A lengthy joint investigation by the Eatontown Police Department and the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office ended last week with a bookkeeper for an Eatontown-based manufacturing business being charged with stealing in excess of $600,000. The investigation, which lasted more than three months,  determined that the companies bookkeeper, who had been an employee for thirty (30) years was giving herself salary increases and bonus totaling more than $223,846. According to the reports that have been released at this point in time, the alleged theft occurred between April 1, 2017 through April 17, 2019.

The bookkeeper, who is a fifty-one year old female from Middletown was formally charged with one count of theft of movable property in the second degree. Based on the severity of the allegations, the defendant was most likely charged under a complaint-warrant, which would have required her to be detained in the Monmouth County Jail for at least 24 hours until she could have her Central Judicial Processing Hearing.
