The Monmouth County DWI Task force, which is run by Brielle Police Chief Michael W. Palmer, has announced that they will be back at it again this weekend. This time, they plan on setting up DWI roadblocks in Sea Bright and Sea Girt. Last weekend the task force conducted checkpoints in Wall Township and Allenhurst. The checkpoints are done to not only help protect the roadways but it is also done to deter would be drunk drivers. By conducting so many roadblocks throughout the Jersey Shore, the Monmouth County DWI Task Force is sending a strong message. DWI Checkpoint in Sea Bright NJ
On Friday, July 13, 2018, the Sea Bright Police Department will be setting up their checkpoint on the northbound lanes of Ocean Ave. Any individuals who are believed to be driving under the influence will be ushered into the borough parking lot so that they could be placed through the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFST). Anyone who fails those tests will be taken down to the Sea Bright Police Department so that they could be asked to submit a breath sample into the Alcotest Machine. The checkpoint will be up in operation from 8 p.m. on Friday till 12 a.m on Saturday.
Charged at a Sea Girt DUI Checkpoint
Then on Saturday, July 14, 2018, the Sea Girt Police Department will conduct their checkpoint. This checkpoint will take place on the Southbound lanes of Route 71. Anyone alleged to have been driving under the influence will be ushered into the Sea Girt Professional Building so that they could be put through the Standardized Field Sobriety Test (SFST). As with the checkpoint in Sea Bright, anyone who fails the SFST’s will be taken to the Sea Girt Police Department so that they could provide a breath sample. This checkpoint will take place later in the evening on Saturday, starting at 10 p.m. and it will got to 2 a.m. on Sunday.
It is important to note that the officers are not simply looking for those under the influence of alcohol, they will also be checking for those who they believe may be driving under the influence of drugs (drug DUI) as well, including but not limited to heroin, marijuana, cocaine and even prescription drugs.
